Background on my brother:He was raised with a tough love approach to parenting, starting around the age of 13. When my brother was around 11, he started to act out and get in trouble in school a lot. After my parents realized that they had to take a stand, they began using a tough love approach toward him. Instead of taking the blame for his actions, or getting him out of trouble, they began to let him suffer the consequences of his actions. This definitely helped my brother stop getting in trouble, and made him realize that all of his actions had consequences
Background on my friend:
My friend was also a trouble maker like my brother but unlike my parents, his parents bailed him out of trouble and did not punish him. Now at the age of 21, my friend still feels that if they do something wrong, his parents will be there to get him out of trouble.
